Just could not get into this one. It's possible I've outgrown Caletti's writing style or maybe just wasn't in the mood. To date the strongest book I've read by her is The Secret Life of Prince Charming which treads into similar territory as this title but, for me, resonated more and featured more interesting characters.

This was a gift but as far as I know she enjoyed the book because she requested it for her birthday
Gift for my daughter.
Good book for a young lady.
Lovely coming of age at all life stages... Wonderful characters, real and lovable ... And who couldn't love a recurring theme about God vs Dog
I have never met a Deb Caletti book that I didn’t fall in love with. This was no exception!
A great read because

1) Likable character, in spite of her stupid decisions
2) Dual plot that works really well and doesn't feel disjointed
3) Important and encouraging message
4) A real family and a makeshift one
5) Good balance of emotions -- not too perfectly happy-go-lucky, not too sad
The story -- of a girl drawn into the petty crime world of a local heartthob, against her own better judgement -- is at times heartbreaking and humorous. My love for this book centers not so much around the story, although that too is great, but on the amazing way in which it is told. Very rarely have I encountered such a gifted writer. Caletti's writing is ponderous and quotable and relavent and I was sad to come to the end of her words.

I would heartily recommend this book to anyone who loves really great literature; to one who likes reading for more than the plot, but the whole rapturous experience.
